Tour Kickoff in Shaker Heights :
Leading EV Adoption at the Local Level

We’ll begin the 2021 EV Tour under the solar canopy at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cleveland where Mayor Weiss, other local officials, and nonprofit leaders, including Eric Morse, President and CEO  of  The Centers for Families & Children, will speak to the benefits of access to EVs for their constituents.

Laketran:
Public Transportation & Access to Workforce Trainin

We’ll meet at the Frank J Polivka Transit Center on the campus of Lakeland Community College. Laketran is adding electric buses to its fleet that connects local residents across Lake County and into Cuyahoga County.  Many students commute by bus to Lakeland Community College where they’re trained in a variety of skills essential to the renewable energy sector.  Join us for a free tour of the Transit Center and hear state representative Dan Troy briefly discuss the political future of electric vehicles and renewable energy in Ohio.

EV Rally 

Afterwards join us in the parking lot for an Electric Vehicle Rally where you can meet some of the growing number of owners of electric cars of all sorts and discuss the advantages and challenges of driving past gas stations!  Take test rides to appreciate the incredible performance capabilities of transportation under electric power and learn how the marriage of electric cars and solar power can bring each of us zero-carbon transportation.

EVs for Every Taste

Southeast Harley Davidson and Southeast Golf Car Company have something for everyone, from the Harley Livewire for riding the road to a Club Car for navigating the neighborhood. After we check out the Livewire — the first all-electric Harley with instant acceleration and 146-mile city range — we’ll stop for lunch at the Original Harley Diner and talk to owner Paul Meyers about what it’s like to sell electric vehicles, including the versatile and popular Club Car.

The Zips Race to the Checkered Flag

Established in 1989, Zips Racing is the Formula SAE team of The University of Akron. It provides students with hands-on experience and shows how what they learn in class can be applied to working in industry. We’ll get a chance to visit the Design Center, meet the team, and see the car that runs in the Formula SAE Electric Race Series.

Fuel Cells Power Public Transportation 

The Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA) will take us for a ride in one of their fuel-cell powered electric buses, and we’ll hear from CEO Kirt Conrad on why these vehicles make good business and environmental sense.
